During the worst of the drab winter weather some of our lower school horticulture students were
not to be found knee deep in the Philpots mud but busy inside the land craft hut honing their
woodworking skills.
Students were tasked with following a ‘blueprint’ to make their own 30 x 50cm table top ‘hockey’
game out of five pieces of timber, a rectangular piece of hardboard, a broom handle and some
elastic. Over a short number of sessions students carefully measured, cut, nailed, drilled glued and
sanded their way to produce some really good finished pieces.
Everyone really worked well and their was a high level of focus, determination and craftmanship shown by all. Well done.
This is what one of the finished games looked like. Amazing!
