Our Wonderful Wellbeing Week!

Last week the 24th June we held a wellbeing week at the school which included a number of fun activities.

There were visits from the fire brigade and ambulance service, beatboxing and bubble blowing.  Other visitors included the sensory bus and some very cute therapy dogs which showed us the most amazing tricks – a personal highlight of the week for me! There was also an art competition and a football match staff vs students.

We enjoyed lots of healthy snacks including smoothies as well as the most delicious picnic.  Our students and staff thoroughly enjoyed the week which was well planned by our lovely Cookery Teacher Anna.

I spent most of the week partaking in the activities and capturing photos of the events!

We Celebrated Our 60th Anniversary!

On Friday 24th May 2019 we celebrated our 60th Anniversary. A wonderful afternoon was held with a delicious cake, sharing memories and planting a tree in memory of our 60 years. Thank you to all the staff members new and old and the past pupils who celebrated this afternoon with us!

Exploring International Cuisine Japan & China

Students following the GCSE Food and Nutrition course recently got the opportunity to choose a country with a different cuisine and food culture to ours, that they would like to find out more about and to try cooking some of their cuisine. Japan and China were chosen.

Students made vegetable spring rolls, chicken chop suey and chicken and sweetcorn soup to represent China and Rainbow-Vegetable Sushi and a Chicken Ramen Noodle Bowl to represent Japan.

The outcome was amazing and very colourful, Anna, our Food and Nutrition Teacher was very proud of all the students involved for showing great patience and perseverance in their prep work. As they found out, Asian cuisine is often very refined and their cooks have amazing knife skills!
